Proteus changed form to win, and we find that many people – often unconsciously – use a similar strategy in conversations about difficult topics. This approach commonly provokes contention because it emphasizes victory over correctness. Correctness should always be the goal, and it is a peace that need not be found on the other side of war. Or so we believe. And we have set aside this section as a proving ground. Here, we will bring up difficult topics, and we will hope that we can all wade through them thoughtfully and with decorum.
